Jesus wept! I read about this over the weekend and was immediately overwhelmed by the WTF-ness of it all. "Resigned and was reappointed immediately?" "Has a good head for figures?" Seriously? My observation is that the man is an arch technocrat and devoid of a moral compass. It would take another technocrat, or an idiot, to miss that. Jane Parfitt is no idiot. Speaking of idiots, I've given myself a fortnight's holiday from RW. Odds are they still think the main issue in local government is a randy mayor up north somewhere, and this has gone right over their heads, unnoticed.

Then there's the media's pantomime pussyfooting around anything to do with Marryatt because of his reputation for being excessively lawsuit-happy. Garry Moore has been effectively calling Marryatt's bluff on this for some time now, though his past criticisms have been more of a sideshow (no pun intended) to his sniping at Parker.
